The St. Julie Billiart Students Energy Project

The sixth grade students at St. Julie Billiart used the theme of Indiana Jones for their Energy Project.  We made a video of  Indiana Jones and vilans.  Everyone in our class dressed up as vilans.  We wore black, and were very creepy looking.  We acted as secretive people who had a map to where a treasure was.  Then, Ohio Osso came in and stole the map while we, (the vilans) were asleep.  Then the vilans woke up and started chasing Ohio Osso.  We chased him all around the block, and he kept looking around and doing different sneaky things while we keep chasing him.  Then after we chased him all around the block he came into our school building, and we chased him through there.  He climbed through the tunnel to the top of the roof, and before we have enough time to catch him, Ohio Osso jumps off the top of the roof (using a stunt dummie, we made).  Lands fine, then gets up and keeps running.  At the end he saves the map, the vilans (us) get worn out and stop chasing him.

The next day in school we had a scavenger hunt in which the whole school participated in.  Ohio Osso left the kids clues to where to find the 10 sources of energy.  We hung up our posters around the school which contained the imformation they needed to find the answers.  The last clue led to the treasure in which Ohio Osso hid.  The first class to find the treasure got a prize.

We invited the 4th and 5th graders to our NEED Project presentation.  At this we had  rap music on, and we had an announcer say the 5 sources of Nonrenewable Resources, and all the renewable resources booed.  Then the announcer called out  the renewable resources, while the Jock Jam music was on, and all the renewables and the crowd, were cheering them on.  Then all the music went off, and the non-renewables sang a chant, which went like this,"We plants, we trees, we destroy the earth, everyday, YEAH!"  Then the renewables yelled NO, and so on.  Next, the renewables started singing a special slower song like this, "When I wake up I turn on my lightbulb, and I know I will use it forever, and ever it never will die, and We will use it------- forever and ever it never will die, etc..., YEAH"  Then the non-renewables yelled NO, and so on.  Then we had to change quickly to do our presentations, while the 4th and 5th graders tried to take facts on pieces of paper, and paste them under the resource in which it belongs.

When we came back out we split into our groups of two or three, then showed our presentations.  Each group had their own presentations, go to the next pages to find out what the presentations and cheers were.  After we showed our presentations we had a carnival.  Here each group had a game, and the kids were split into groups and they went from game to game trying to get the most points.  At the end we said goodbye and the kids left.  Then of course, we cleaned up.

This project was very  enlightening, and we would all be most gratefully honored if you  followed our idea.  Thank You.
